How to keep private data out of AI replies
AI chatbots repeat what they see. If a customer types their card number, or an internal key ends up in the bot’s notes, it can come right back out in a reply.
- Turn on Block private data. It’s on by default for new rule sets and new connections. For older ones, tick it in the rule-set editor.
- Know what it catches. Card numbers (checked with the standard card-number math), US Social Security numbers, and text that looks like a secret key.
- See what happens. The reply gets stopped and the reason says “It included private data.” With the Safe AI address, the private part is removed before the AI is asked to fix the reply, so it isn’t sent back to the AI.
- Test it. In Try it live, add the Block private data chip and paste a fake card number from your payment provider’s test cards and see it get blocked.
